Oze Iwakura Resort
Gunma
NEW MOVIE UPLOADED!!
Experience the world of famed white-powder snow at Gunma’s premiere winter destination – Oze Iwakura Resort. At just two and half hours from both Tokyo and Nagano station, visitors can easily access Oze Iwakura, which has the highest snow fall and most powder snow in all of Gunma prefecture. Here, 16 different exciting courses are available for a variety of skill levels. The slopes range from beginner and family-friendly to expert, including one of the largest slopes in Kanto area.
The light, fluffy powder snow at Oze Iwakura is well-known for rivalling that of Hokkaido while still staying close to the action with Tokyo and Nagano nearby. Snowboarders and skiers alike have the chance to carve through any of the 6 non-compressed snow areas for truly fluffy powder snow. Take it one step further by visiting the Nishiyama Area for some backcountry skiing. Simply notify the information centre for access.
The extensive array of slopes are divided into two areas: Nishiyama and Iwakura, with the latter receiving the most snowfall in Gunma Prefecture. During the height of the season, it’s not unusual for an entire metre of snow to fall in just one night causing powder snow mania in the early morning with waist-deep uncompressed powder for all to enjoy to their heart’s content.
Right at the bottom of the ski resort lies the two ski-in/ski-out hotels, Iwakura Resort Hotel and Iwakura House. After a long day hitting the slopes, Iwakura Resort Hotel’s reinvigorating hot spring “Ichiyama-no-yu” is the perfect place to refresh the mind and body before grabbing a bite at the hotel’s locally-sourced restaurant.
