These public baths are free-of-charge but often have a small donation box to help support the locals who regularly clean and maintain the baths. Guests also have access to private and public hot springs at inns, making it easy to relax after a long day exploring.

Kenashi. Beginners can choose from a variety of different slopes such as the Uenotaira Snow Park which is the perfect starter area with gentle slopes and wide runs. Beginners can also opt to head on over to the Hikage area where the Nozawa Ski School offers fun group and private lessons taught by skilled, English-speaking instructors.

If you’re an intermediate or advanced skier, check out some of the exhilarating powder-snow areas including the challengingly steep slope that has a vertical drop of 39 degrees. More adventurous skiers and snowboarders can also experience the Uenotaira Snow Park area to carve up the halfpipe, kickers, boxes, wave and other varying terrain.
