Alpine Visitor Center

Furano Hokkaido

PC170148.JPG

The Furano Alpine Visitor Center boasts a wide range of adventurous outdoor activities, stunning views and a rustic style lodge with easy access to a ski resort. From here, visitors can see an impressive display of the Taisetsuzan Mountain Range and a smoking volcano. However, if the view from the ground doesn’t satisfy your needs, you can go one step further with their Hot-Air Balloon Flight. Experience unforgettable views of the powder snow-covered plains while drifting in the clouds. If conquering heights is not for you, instead try ice fishing for wakasagi, a Japanese freshwater fish, which you can catch and have deep fried on the spot to enjoy.

For people who want a closer look at the Taisetsuzan Mountain Range, guided-hiking tours are also offered with snow-shoes to make trekking through the snow an easy and relaxing experience. For a more casual hike, a short snow-shoe hike is also available during the day where you get to sled your way down the mountain on an air board with the option to add on a trip to a natural hot spring to warm up after your day in the snow. There is also a night hike option that has the hot spring automatically included, not to mention breath-taking views of starry-covered scenery.

From exhilarating balloon rides to relaxing evenings in the hot springs, the Alpine Visitor Center is the perfect destination for all winter lovers. It’s easy to access with a private transportation service offered between New Chitose and Asahikawa airports.
